Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders News Release
Moosic, Pa. - The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (Triple-A/New York Yankees) may be based nearly five hours away from Boston. But their hearts are with their brothers in Beantown. Tomorrow night, the team will auction off the "owner's suite" at PNC Field for the Friday, June 21 home game against the Norfolk Tides. All proceeds will be used to support the victims of the horrific bombing at the Boston Marathon.
The auction winner will receive 16 suite tickets and two VIP parking passes for the June 21 affair. The silent auction will take place at The University of Scranton Guest Services booth in the main entrance plaza at PNC Field. Bidding will start at $400 for the package that is a $600 value. The team will also have several salutes to Boston throughout the night which will conclude with the suite winner being announced shortly after the game.
"Tragedies like the Boston Marathon bombing affect every American," said RailRiders president/GM Rob Crain. "We feel terrible for all of those that were hurt or killed and are eager to help in any way we can."
Friday marks the start of an eight-game homestand for the RailRiders as they host the Syracuse Chiefs (Washington Nationals) in the first of a four-game series. Chien-Ming Wang will start for the RailRiders with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Great ticket packages, group deals and single-game tickets are available. With no upper deck at PNC Field anymore, every seat in the ballpark provides the supreme views and intimacy that make minor league baseball so special at incredibly affordable prices.
