Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders News Release
MOOSIC, PA - The Scranton/Wilkes Barre RailRiders defeated the Lehigh Valley IronPigs 8-4 Thursday night at PNC Field. The RailRiders were powered by six shut-out frames from #7 Yankee prospect, Will Warren, and a two-homer game from #5 prospect, Everson Periera.
The RailRiders used a four-run bottom of the third to strike first. After Josh VanMeter and Luis Gonzalez worked walks, Caleb Durbin ripped an RBI double to left field scoring VanMeter. Periera followed with a 419-foot three-run bomb to dead center putting Scranton/Wilkes-Barre up 4-0. It was his fifth home run of the year.
In the bottom of the sixth, Carlos Narvaez and Jose Rojas worked walks to reach base. Then, VanMeter put the RailRiders ahead 6-0 with a two-run double.
Lehigh Valley battled back in the top of the seventh with a David Dahl RBI single and a Scott Kingery three-run homer to make it 6-4.
Pereira struck again in the bottom of the seventh with his sixth home run of the year, a solo shot to left center field making it 7-4 Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
