North Carolina FC News Release
CARY, NC (September 25, 2015) - The Carolina RailHawks announced today that they will be wearing a commemorative jersey to benefit the Ronald McDonald House of Durham and WakeMed during their October 10th home match against Jacksonville Armada FC. The match will be presented by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina.
For the second year in a row, the RailHawks will wear a commemorative jersey, provided by soccer.com and adidas, to benefit North Carolina's first Ronald McDonald House, which since 1980, has offered a comforting home away from home and a community of support for seriously ill children and their families. The Ronald McDonald House at WakeMed opened this past April.
"Two qualities of a champion are courage and determination. The RailHawks and our guest families at the Ronald McDonald House share these qualities," said Oie Osterkamp, Ronald McDonald House of Durham and WakeMed Executive Director. "Our team at the Ronald McDonald House of Durham and WakeMed are excited about this partnership with the RailHawks team and we both look forward to supporting each other throughout the season."
The RailHawks will unveil their 2015 commemorative jersey next week, as well as details on how to acquire these limited edition jerseys. Fifteen official match jerseys will be auctioned online to raise funds for the charity which operates programs in Durham and Raleigh.
"We are thrilled to again partner with Ronald McDonald House Charities," said RailHawks President Curt Johnson. The money raised in 2014 through our first commemorative jersey night was used to help the Ronald McDonald House of Durham and WakeMed Hospitals provide support to children and families in need of assistance. We are honored to play a small part in raising funds for this incredible charity. In addition, we would like to thank Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina, our longtime partner and front of the jersey sponsor, for once again supporting this special night and for their commitment to our community."
Ronald McDonald House Charities is a non-profit organization with local chapters currently operating in 51 countries and regions. Each local Ronald McDonald House is a separate public charity, operated by a local Board of Directors.
