RailHawks Lose Tight Battle in Minnesota
July 17, 2014 - North American Soccer League (NASL)
North Carolina FC News Release
Blaine, MN - Numerous second-half chances for the Carolina RailHawks (0W-0T-2L, 0pts) weren't enough to propel them to a victory over the NASL Spring Season Champions, Minnesota United FC (2W-0T-0L, 6pts), as they dropped Thursday night's away match 1-0.
Both teams had their chances in the first half, but it was Minnesota's Daniel Mendes who scored in the 26th minute. Carolina followed the goal by pushing forward, but they weren't able find the back of the net.
The RailHawks had numerous unfinished chances in the second half, none greater than Tiyi Shipalane's one-on-one breakaway opportunity and close-range shot that went off the post.
The RailHawks return to NASL Action on Wednesday when they travel to Texas to face the San Antonio Scorpions at 8:30pm. You can follow the match live on www.NASLLive.com .
On Saturday, July 26th the RailHawks will be back at home to face the Ottawa Fury FC at WakeMed Soccer Park. Prior to the game, the RailHawks will be hosting the 3rd Annual Pre-Game Pig Pickin' Festival, which includes BBQ, beer and live music for only $16. For more information about the game and the Pig Pickin' Festival, call the RailHawks Box Office at 919-459-8144 or visit www.CarolinaRailHawks.com.
