KEVIN BUTLER AND BOBBY DOUGLASS APPEARANCE

September 1st @ 7 PM

Chicago Bears all-time leading scorer and member of the 1985 Superbowl Championship Team, Kevin Butler will join fellow former Bear Bobby Douglass to sign autographs and greet fans at U. S. Steel Yard at the 7 p.m. contest between the Gary SouthShore RailCats and Schaumburg Flyers.

Butler spent 11 seasons as the kicker of the Chicago Bears and became the club's all-time leading scorer with 1,116 points. "Butthead" was selected in the fourth round of the 1985 NFL Draft and helped the Bears to a victory in Superbowl XX in his rookie season connecting on three field goals in the game as well as four extra points. Butler finished his 13 NFL seasons with 265 of 361 field goals good for 73% and 413 of 426 on extra point attempts, giving him 1,208 total points. The Savannah native played college ball at the University of Georgia and after his induction in 2001, is the only placekicker to ever be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.

Douglass returns to U. S. Steel Yard for the second consecutive straight year after joining Otis Wilson as guests of the RailCats last year. The Manhattan, Kansas native spent his first six-plus season with the Bears after being selected in the second round of the 1969 NFL draft.

As a member of the Bears in 1972, Douglass set the single season record for rushing yards in a season with 968. This record stood for 34 years until it was broken in 2006 by Michael Vick. In total, Douglass played 10 seasons in the NFL after being an All-American at the University of Kansas.
