Gary SouthShore Railcats News Release
GARY, Ind. - The Gary SouthShore RailCats are on the final stretch of the 2009 regular season and will close out their pre-playoff slate with four games at U. S. Steel Yard.
Friday, August 28, the RailCats begin a four-game series with the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks on Negro Leagues Appreciation Night as homage is paid to the Negro Leagues with appearances from former players. It is Merrillville Community Night at the ballpark when all residents with a valid ID get $2 off their tickets. And fans can enjoy a post-game fireworks show on another Fireworks Friday, sponsored by First Midwest Bank & The Post-Tribune. Gates open at 6 p.m.
Saturday, August 29, the RailCats will be giving away tin lunchboxes, just in time for school, to the first 1,000 kids (12 & under), courtesy Geminus Prevention Services and Indiana 105. And during the game, fans can place bids on special camouflage jerseys that the RailCats will sport. The military-style tops will be auctioned off after the game. Gates open at 5 p.m.
Sunday, August 30, gates open at 1 p.m. when Hoosier Bat Co. sponsors a RailCats team photo giveaway to the first 2,000 fans arriving at U. S. Steel Yard. It is also the final Times Family Day of the regular season as the coupon in Sunday's edition of The Times gives fans four box seat tickets, four hot dogs, and four sodas for just $36.
And on Monday, August 31, the final night of the 2009 regular season, the RailCats dedicate the evening to their fans on Fan Appreciation Night at U. S. Steel Yard. The RailCats will honor the great patrons that have made the 2009 season such a memorable one. All night, several great prizes will be given away and a number of in-game events will be hosted for fans to enjoy.
The RailCats will double their fan appreciation night with Football Night at The Steel Yard, sponsored by U. S. Steel Gary Works. Former Chicago Bears greats Otis Wilson and Bobby Douglass will be in attendance, signing autographs and interacting with fans. With football legends in the house, it is only appropriate that fans who wear their football jerseys to the park get $2 off their ticket at the gates and the first 1,000 fans in attendance receive a free foam football, sponsored by Lakeshore Public Television. The RailCats will also present another Dollar Monday, sponsored by NIEMI Associates. Buy a regular priced ticket and get a second ticket for just $1 and enjoy dollar hot dogs, soda, popcorn, programs and other great deals around the park. And the regular season ends with a bang as fans will be treated to an awe-inspiring post-game fireworks show, presented by First Midwest Bank and The Post-Tribune.
Tickets are available for any of the final four games at U. S. Steel Yard and can be purchased by visiting the U. S. Steel Yard box office, by dialing 219.882.2255, or by logging on to www.railcatsbaseball.com.
