LAST TIME OUT: The Rail Yard Dawgs got in a 4-1 hole in the second period and could not climb out as they were defeated by the Huntsville Havoc, 6-3, Saturday night at the Berglund Center. Massimo Lamacchia assisted on all three goals and David Gandara scored twice. Ryan de Melo made 36 saves on 41 shots in the loss.

THE OTHER GUYS: The Dawgs welcome the Mississippi RiverKings to the Roanoke Valley for the first meeting in franchise history. The RiverKings enter Thursday in third place in the SPHL with 34 points. They have lost four of their last six games but are coming off of a 3-2 win over Peoria. Mississippi employs the league's leading scorer, Cullen Bradshaw, who has 10 goals and has dished out 19 assists in 26 games.

TROUBLE WITH THE THIRD: Roanoke allowed two goals in the third period of Saturday's loss to Huntsville and has now been out-scored, 32-12, during third periods this season. The -20 goal differential is the largest to either end for the Dawgs this season. When Roanoke enters a third period trailing, it has gone 0-11-2.

JUST THE TWO OF US: The game between the Rail Yard Dawgs and the RiverKings is the only game going on in the SPHL on Thursday. Roanoke has gone 0-1-1 on Thursdays this season.

PUCKS ON THEIR NET: Roanoke had 39 shots on net during Saturday's loss to Huntsville, tied for the most shots in a single game this season. The Dawgs had previously fired 39 shots during a 2-1 loss at Knoxville on 11/25.

PUCKS ON OUR NET: Huntsville put 42 shots on goal on Saturday, the eighth time this season a Roanoke opponent recorded 40 or more.

THE SET-UP MAN: Massimo Lamacchia assisted on each of Roanoke's three goals on Saturday and now has assisted on the Dawgs last five goals. Lamacchia became the first Rail Yard Dawg to record three assists in a game this season. He is now tied for second on the team with 17 points (eight goals, nine assists).

BACK-TO-BACK-TO-BACK: The Rail Yard Dawgs will play three games in three days for the first time this season this weekend. Roanoke hosts Mississippi at the Berglund Center on Thursday and Friday before traveling to Columbus to see the Cottonmouths on Saturday.

MISFIRING PK: Huntsville scored a pair of power play goals on Saturday and the Rail Yard Dawgs have now allowed power play goals in seven of their last ten games. Roanoke's penalty kill is last in the league at 77% while Mississippi owns the second most prolific power play in the SPHL at 18.9%.

HOLES IN THE DEFENSE: The Rail Yard Dawgs allowed six goals during Saturday's loss to Huntsville, the fifth time this season that they had surrendered six or more goals.
