LAST TIME OUT: The Rail Yard Dawgs got goals in the third period from Steve Mele and Cody Dion but could not erase what was a 3-0 deficit as they were defeated by the Huntsville Havoc, 3-2, Saturday night at Berglund Center.

UP HE GOES: Roanoke goaltender Tanner Creel was called up to the ECHL's Reading Royals on Monday and is set to make his first career ECHL appearance. The rookie out of UCONN had played eight games for the Dawgs, starting seven, and was 3-5-0 with a 3.13 GAA and .907 SV%. He is the second Roanoke netminder to be called up this season- Brad Barone has been with the ECHL's Norfolk Admirals since October 29.

NOW IN NET: The Rail Yard Dawgs singed goaltender Ben Myers to fill the spot vacated by Tanner Creel on Tuesday. Myers had appeared in one game with the Birmingham Bulls this season- a 5-4 win during which he made 39 saves on 43 shots. He will tandem with Jacob Caffrey, who has made one start for the Dawgs. Caffrey registered 28 saves on 30 shots in Roanoke's 4-2 win over Huntsville last Friday.

MORE ROSTER MOVEMENT: Roanoke made another roster move on Friday when it signed forward Mac Jansen and released defenseman Patrick Harrison. Jansen opened the season in Knoxville with the Ice Bears and had one assist over six games before being released earlier this month. He then played in five games in the FHL with the Watertown Wolves before catching on with the Dawgs. Jansen had one goal and nine assists over his five games with Watertown.

HOT AND COLD POWER PLAY The Rail Yard Dawgs' power play currently sits at 22.2% successful, good for the second best percentage in the league, but it as been decidedly hot and cold. For the last six games, the Dawgs have alternated between scoring two power play goals and no power play goals. They went 0-for-5 on the man advantage during Saturday's 3-2 loss to Huntsville. During this six-game stretch, Roanoke is 3-0-0 when scoring two power play goals and 0-3-0 when it goes scoreless on the power play.

THE SEASON SERIES: Friday's game is the second of eight scheduled matchups between the Mayhem and the Rail Yard Dawgs. Macon shut out the Dawgs during the first meeting in Roanoke, 3-0, on November 16. Four of the Rail Yard Dawgs' next five games will take place against the Mayhem.

TOUGH TO SCORE: The Mayhem have the best goal-scoring defense in the SPHL; they allow only 1.9 goals per game. Macon has two shutouts and has allowed two goals of fewer in 11 of its 14 games.

UP NEXT: The Rail Yard Dawgs and Mayhem will clash again on Saturday night in Roanoke. Puck drop for Star Wars Night is scheduled for 7:05 PM at Berglund Center.
