LAST TIME OUT: Matt Zenzola stopped 43 of 44 shots faced, Maxime Guyon scored twice and the Rail Yard Dawgs rode a four-goal second period to a 5-1 victory over the Pensacola Ice Flyers, Friday night at the Pensacola Bay Center.
POINT HOARDERS: Roanoke's win in Pensacola on Friday was its ninth in its last ten games and extended the Rail Yard Dawgs point streak to ten. The Dawgs have not failed to register a point since they fell to the Knoxville Ice Bears at home, 3-2, on February 2. Roanoke has picked up 19 of its last 20 possible standings points.
ROAD WARRIORS: The Rail Yard Dawgs are four games into a stretch of seven straight that will take place away from home. Roanoke has gone 3-0-1 during the road swing and is now 9-8-3 during road games this season. The Dawgs will return to Berglund Center ice on March 15 when they host the Macon Mayhem.
HOMECOMING FOR ZENZOLA: Friday's game represented the first time that Matt Zenzola played in Pensacola since the Ice Flyers did not put him on their protected list this offseason. He stopped 43 of 44 shots faced to earn the victory in the Dawgs commanding 5-1 win. Zenzola played parts of three seasons for the Ice Flyers and was named the President's Cup MVP when Pensacola won the league's championship in 2015-16.
HITTING THE GROUND RUNNING: Maxime Guyon scored twice in Roanoke's 5-1 win over Pensacola on Friday, the second consecutive game in which he has put up two goals. Guyon has four goals and one assist in three games since signing with the Rail Yard Dawgs. He had been with the FHL's Cornwall Nationals where he had put up 32 goals and 31 assists over 30 games. Guyon was signed to a full contract Saturday following the conclusion of his original three-game contract.
HOME AWAY FROM HOME: The Rail Yard Dawgs have now played four games in Pensacola in franchise history and have gone 3-1-0 in them. Roanoke was 2-1-0 in Pensacola last season.
SEASON SERIES VS PENSACOLA: The Rail Yard Dawgs and Ice Flyers will play their final scheduled game against one another on Saturday. Roanoke is 2-1-0 against Pensacola this season and has 13 goals in three games against an Ice Flyers defense that averages a league-best 2.6 goals against per game.
THE FIRST GOAL: Roanoke scored the game's first goal on Friday and improved to 15-3-0 when doing so as opposed to 5-16-4 when allowing the first goal.
UP NEXT: The Rail Yard Dawgs continue their road swing on Friday night in Macon against the Mayhem. Puck drop at the Macon Coliseum is scheduled for 7:35 PM.
