Prince Albert Raiders News Release
Prince Albert, SK - The Prince Albert Raiders have traded overage defenceman Max Martin to the Kamloops Blazers in exchange for a second-round pick and a sixth-round pick in the 2020 WHL Bantam Draft.
Martin, a Winnipeg, MB product, was a second-round pick in the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft of the Prince George Cougars. He was acquired by the Raiders on November 18, 2016.
Since then, the 6'0, 180-lb blueliner has dressed in 185 regular season games with the Raiders, scoring 18 goals and adding 80 assists. In 28 postseason games in Prince Albert, Martin has a goal and eight assists.
"Today was a tough day trading a champion and a great Raider in Max Martin," said Raiders General Manager Curtis Hunt. "When we started building here, Max was the first acquisition. He earned the title of champion during his time here. Kamloops is a good team and plays a fast game, which I think fits Max's style of play.
"We thank Max for everything he did on and off the ice here and we wish him nothing but the best going forward."
During the Raiders' 2019 WHL Championship season, Martin had six goals and 35 assists in 59 games played with a plus-45 rating. He added eight assists and posted a plus-14 rating in the WHL Playoffs.
In his 214-game WHL career, Martin has scored 22 goals and added 84 assists with a plus-35 rating and 136 penalty minutes.
The Raiders continue their homestand tonight when the Saskatoon Blades (2-3-0-0) make their second trip to the Art Hauser Centre this season. Puck drop is 7 p.m.
Then on Saturday, the Raiders host the Regina Pats on Ozzy Wiesblatt Bobblehead Night Presented By Canadian Tire. Get your bobblehead with a minimum $2 donation. Proceeds from the bobblehead will be donated to Jumpstart Prince Albert.
Tickets for both games can be purchased at the Raiders Office and at raiderhockey.com.
