Winnipeg ICE Host Edmonton to Kick off Two Game Home Stand

Winnipeg, MB - The Winnipeg ICE (3-1-1-0) begin a short two game home stand when it hosts the Edmonton Oil Kings (2-1-2-0) at Wayne Fleming Arena on Friday.

Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 P.M. CT.

The Winnipeg ICE are coming off of a 5-2 victory over the Regina Pats on September 29. The ICE received two goals from Carson Lambos while Michal Teply, Cole Muir and Isaac Johnson added the others. Goaltender Will Gurski stopped 19-of-21 shots, registered an assist and the first victory of his WHL career in his first WHL start. The Pats got goals from Robbie Holmes and Austin Pratt. Goaltender Danton Belluk blocked 20-of-25 shots in the loss. The ICE outshot the Pats 25-21. The ICE went 2-for-4 on the power play, 2-for-4 on the penalty kill and won 28-of-58 face-offs.

The Edmonton Oil Kings visit the Winnipeg ICE for the first time this season on Friday, October 4. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 P.M. The Oil Kings are currently in the middle of a five-game road trip. The Oil Kings visited the Swift Current Broncos on October 2. Following tonight's game, the Oil Kings travel to Brandon, Regina and Moose Jaw before heading home to face Calgary and Portland.

The Oil Kings are coming off of a 4-3 overtime loss to the Swift Current Broncos on October 2. The Oil Kings received two goals from Carter Souch and the other from Vladimir Alistrov. Goaltender Todd Scott stopped 25-of-29 shots he faced. The Oil Kings outshot the Broncos 33-29. They went 0-for-2 on the power play, 2-for-2 on the penalty kill and won 38-of-67 face-offs.

HEAD TO HEAD

This is the first meeting of the season between the Winnipeg ICE and Edmonton Oil Kings. These teams will meet four times during the 2019-2020 campaign. The next meeting will be in early February.

The ICE went 1-5-0-0 against the Oil Kings last season.
