Raiders Set to Celebrate Dave Manson Weekend

Prince Albert, SK - The Prince Albert Raiders have released details for Dave Manson Weekend, set to take place from February 12 to 13 as proclaimed by the city of Prince Albert and Mayor Greg Dionne, comprising of local legend Dave Manson's number "4" jersey retirement.
The pre-game ceremony on Friday will feature Manson and his family as well as other distinguished guests. Hosted by the former voice of the Raiders and current radio broadcaster for the Winnipeg Jets, Brian Munz, the ceremony will include video tributes from around the hockey world and presentations from the Raiders and Western Hockey League Commissioner Ron Robison. The ceremony will conclude with Manson's number "4" joining Mike Modano's number "9" in the rafters at the Art Hauser Centre.
During the pre-game warm-up on Friday, the Raiders will wear special retro jerseys replicating the ones worn by Manson in his playing days with Prince Albert. The white sweaters feature the classic Raider logo with Manson's name and number "4" on the back. The jerseys will be available for purchase through a silent auction at the game as well as an online auction at www.raiderhockey.com.
Limited edition "Manson Weekend" pucks will also be available for purchase in the Raider Store. The front of the puck displays the Raiders' logo and the new number "4" banner. On the back of the puck is statistics from Manson's National Hockey League career and the logo of every NHL team he played with.

Following his jersey retirement, the Raiders will host the "Roast of Dave Manson" in front of a sold out audience in the Ches Leach Lounge on Saturday.
Considered one of the greatest players in franchise history, Manson played three seasons with the Raiders from 1983 to 1986 and was a key piece of the team's Memorial Cup championship in 1985. In 218 games with the Raiders, Manson compiled 24 goals and 72 assists for 96 points. One of the toughest players to suit up in the WHL, Manson commanded respect on the ice with his physical play as he collected 666 penalty minutes.
Manson went on to be selected in the first round, 11th overall, in the 1985 National Hockey League Entry Draft by the Chicago Blackhawks. He joined Chicago for his rookie season in 1986-87 and quickly established himself as one of the toughest and most punishing players in the league, garnering the nickname "Charlie". Manson would play 1103 games in the NHL over 16 seasons with the Blackhawks, Edmonton Oilers, Winnipeg Jets, Phoenix Coyotes, Montreal Canadiens, Dallas Stars, and Toronto Maple Leafs. He record 102 goals and 288 assists for 390 points with 2792 penalty minutes and was twice named to the NHL All-Star Game.
After retiring from his NHL career, Manson rejoined his hometown team and became the assistant coach of the Raiders in 2002. He is currently in his 12th season behind the bench with the team.
