Raiders' Matteo Gennaro Selected by Winnipeg Jets in 2015 NHL Draft

Prince Albert, SK - The Prince Albert Raiders are pleased to announce that forward Matteo Gennaro was selected by the Winnipeg Jets in the seventh round with the 203rd overall pick on Saturday at the 2015 National Hockey League Draft in Sunrise, Florida.

Gennaro finished his second season with the Raiders in 2014-15. In 72 games, the St. Albert, Alberta product scored 16 goals and 15 assists for 31 points.

In two seasons in the Western Hockey League, Gennaro has dressed in 132 contests where he has scored 21 goals and 25 assists for 46 points. He has also played in three playoff games. In 2014, Gennaro was a member of Canada's Team Pacific at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge where he led his team in scoring en route to a silver medal.

Gennaro was originally selected by the Raiders in the second round, 41st overall, in the 2012 WHL Bantam Draft. He becomes the ninth Raider to be selected in the NHL Draft in the last six years.
