Raiders Double Up Oil Kings To Keep Streak Alive

Edmonton, AB - The Prince Albert Raiders (25-1-0-0) ended their Central Division swing with a 6-3 win over the Edmonton Oil Kings (14-10-2-2) on Wednesday night at Rogers Place.

The victory extended the Raiders' winning streak to 18 games, including eight consecutive on the road.

Parker Kelly had two goals and an assist - as well as a block that set up another goal - in the win. Brett Leason extended his point streak to 26 games with a three-assist night. Max Martin also had a multi-point night with a goal and an assist.

The Raiders got off to a quick start with a goal in the first five minutes. Martin ended a 16-game goalless drought with his fourth of the year. His shot from the wing ricocheted off both Oil Kings' defenders in front of the goal and past Dylan Myskiw.

Later in the frame, the Raiders extended their lead. Kelly floated a pass to Noah Gregor, who was denied by Myskiw. However, Kelly followed the play and put home the rebound for his 12th of the year with 5:48 left in the period.

Less than three minutes later, Kelly struck again. Leason collected the puck and found the Ottawa Senators prospect in the slot, who made no mistake for his second goal of the contest. That made it a 3-0 game after the first.

Trey Fix-Wolansky responded quickly in the second period. The Columbus Blue Jackets prospect tallied an unassisted marker 24 seconds into the frame.

At the 3:54 mark, Brayden Pachal restored the Raiders' three-goal lead. Kelly blocked a shot that sprung Leason down the left wing. Pachal joined the play to make it an odd-man rush, received the pass from Leason, and roofed it over Myskiw for his fifth of the season.

Aliaksei Protas made it a 5-1 game less than three minutes later. Martin found the Belarusian rookie with a beautiful stretch pass, setting up another odd-man rush. Protas looked off the pass and wired a shot past Myskiw at the 6:12 mark for his sixth of the year.

Fix-Wolansky got his team back into the game in the third. He scored his second of the game 16 seconds into the frame. Two minutes later, Fix-Wolansky completed the hat trick when he got the puck off the faceoff and wired a shot past Scott to make it 5-3.

It was as close as the Oil Kings came on the evening. Kody McDonald iced it with an empty-net goal with 1:19 remaining.

Scott had another strong performance between the pipes for the Raiders. The Toronto Maple Leafs prospect made 31 saves to pick up the win. At the other end, Myskiw stopped 29 Raider shots in a losing effort.

The Raiders are off until Saturday night when they head to Regina to take on the Pats (8-17-0-0) at the Brandt Centre. Puck drop is 7 p.m.
