Wisconsin Rapids Rafters News Release

Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. - The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (12-26) will look to get their first win of the second half tonight against the Kenosha Kingfish (19-16). The Rafters lost yesterday afternoon 4-3 to the Kingfish in a very close ball game in which the Rafters were unable to capitalize on a number of opportunities.

Pitching for the Rafters tonight will be Nick Blackburn (Illinois, 1-2) who is making his sixth start of the season for the Rafters. Blackburn is coming off of a very strong seven inning start as he picked up the win only allowing four runs on four hits with three walks while striking out nine. Blackburn has a 3.11 ERA on the season and in 26 innings pitched has totaled 20 strikeouts.

The Rafters offense looks to get back on track tonight against the Kingfish as yesterday they stranded 13 men on base. Zack Domingues (Long Beach State) drove in two runs in yesterday's ballgame giving him 14 RBIs on the season as he looks to continue to be the catalyst for the Rafters offense. Kirby McGuire (New Mexico) also had a good night for the Rafters as he was never retired by Kingfish pitchers in four at-bats. McGuire had one hit and recorded three walks and looks to heat up here in the second half of the season.

First pitch for tonight's game is set for 6:05pm with the gates opening at 5:00pm at Witter Field. Tonight is Outdoorsman Night presented by Element Mobile and Duck Dynasty's John Godwin will be at Witter Field as the special guest.
