Woodchucks' rally not enough to defeat Loggers, lose 10-7

Wausau, WI - The Wisconsin Woodchucks used a seven-run seventh inning to take the lead against the La Crosse Loggers, but the Loggers scored four unanswered runs to win 10-7.

It was all Loggers early in this one as they gripped a six run lead going into the bottom of the seventh inning. The Woodchucks scored seven runs all with two outs to take the lead 7-6. The rally started with a RBI double by Jake Scudder ending the Loggers' shutout. The Woodchucks used five consecutive hits to bring home six more runs in the inning. With the bases loaded, Jake Jefferies cleared the bases with one swing of the bat as he hit a double to the left field gap. Nate Mondou then hit a double of his own to plate Jefferies giving the Woodchucks a 7-6 lead.

The Loggers answered with a run of their own in the top of the eighth inning when Aaron Knapp came into score on a single by Ryne Birk tying the game at seven.

The game would go into extra innings when in the first additional inning the Loggers scored three runs as Woodchucks' pitcher Eric Garza struggled to find the strike zone and letting the game slip out of the Woodchucks' hands.

The Woodchucks will have a busy road trip to Kenosha the next two days. The Woodchucks will play a total of four games in two days against the Kingfish. Two of the games were postponed in the first half when the Woodchucks first traveled to Kenosha earlier this summer.
