Green Bay Rockers News Release
Green Bay, Wis. - The Green Bay Bullfrogs and St. Cloud Rox will play the final game of their two-game series at Joannes Stadium on Saturday. Green Bay took the first game on Friday by a score of 3-2, and will look for a series sweep and their third straight win on Saturday night.
In the first game of the series, on Friday afternoon, the Bullfrogs received their second straight dominant pitching performance from their starter. Roberto Baroniel (Nova Southeastern) threw six innings, and gave up only one run to the Rox on four hits, to earn his third straight win. Green Bay scored three runs in the second and third innings to take a 3-0 lead and the bullpen held the lead to give the Bullfrogs their second straight victory. Ivan Vieitez (Lenoir-Rhyne) threw a perfect ninth inning to pick up his second save of the season for the Bullfrogs.
Green Bay will now look to sweep the two-game series from the Rox, and will hand the ball off to Corey Fischer (Madison College) on Saturday night. The right-handed junior from Denmark, Wis. will be making his fifth start of the season. In four starts so far, Fischer has a 1-0 record with a 4.35 ERA. In his last start, on June 28th against Duluth, Fischer earned a no decision after tossing six and two-thirds innings, giving up only two runs on seven hits to the Huskies.
St. Cloud will counter with Reese Gregory (St. Cloud State) at pitcher on Saturday. Gregory, who was named to the Northwoods League All-Star team last season, has continued his success this season as he owns a 3-1 record with a 1.43 ERA in six appearances (five starts). Gregory has thrown thirty-one and one-thirds innings this season, and has struck out thirty-six batters while walking eleven.
Following Saturday's game, the Bullfrogs will travel to Lakeshore to battle the Chinooks on Sunday on Monday. After Monday's game, Green Bay will be home for their next eight games for a home stand that ends on July 16th.
There will be post-game fireworks after the game on Saturday night. First pitch on Saturday is scheduled for 6:05 pm from Joannes Stadium.
