Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. - The 3-1 Wisconsin Rapids Rafters completed the sweep of the Wisconsin Woodchucks in their home opener Friday night. This moved the cranberry and gold to second place in the South Division with a 3-1 record just below the 3-0 Kenosha Kingfish who are still short a game due to a rain cancelation.

Today, the Rafters take on the 1-3 Green Bay Bullfrogs at Witter Field before heading on a three day road trip. The Green Bay Bullfrogs are currently ranked ninth in the South Division. The Rafters went 7-1 against the Bullfrogs last season, handily winning most of their match-ups.

Bullfrogs hot hitter is Blaise Maris (Florida Tech) who in three games for the Bullfrogs has had three runs, four hits, two RBI and a walk batting .400. In each his last two appearances Maris put up a duo of hits and an RBI.

Player to watch for the Rafters is Mitch Mallek (St. Cloud State). In 14 at bats, Mallek leads the Rafters with five hits and three doubles. He also has two runs, two RBI, a .357 batting average and has struck out zero times this season. Steven Rivas (Long Beach State) is also putting up impressive numbers for the Rafters. Rivas has two runs, five hits, two doubles, three RBI and a .294 batting average. He is on a four-game hit streak and leads the team in RBI.

Starting on the hill tonight for the Rafters is Charlie Ruegger (Stevens IOT). Ruegger has an 0-1 record due to the loss against he Madison Mallards on May 29. He pitched one inning and faced 8 batters. He struck out one and allowed zero earned runs making his ERA 0.00. At Stevens Institute of Technology Ruegger is 11-3 and maintained a 3.69 ERA through his junior season. He has struck out 142 batters.

Pitching for the Green Bay Bullfrogs is Leo Perez (Texas Corpus Christi). This will be Perez's first start as a pitcher for the Frogs, however he has appeared in four games in the designated hitter role. In his freshman year at college Perez had a 4-3 record and recorded a 5.14 ERA.
