Rafters Hope to Roll Offense over into Mallards Matchup

Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. - The Rafters split the series with one Big Top Baseball rival, before taking on another tonight. Wisconsin Rapids bested Kenosha 16-5, the highest scoring game for the Rafters in the 2018 season and only the second time in franchise history that they have scored exactly 16 runs. This moves the Rafters to 15-18 on the season.

Eight out of nine starting Rafters recorded a hit in the matchup against the Kingfish. The bottom of the order went a combined 8 for 9 with six runs batted in! The cranberry and gold collected 16 runs, hits and RBI. The win went to Tyler Giovinco (Army West Point), earning his first win in his debut for the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters.

On the mound for the Rafters tonight is Charlie Ruegger (Stevens Institute of Technology). The Rafters resident draft pick sports a 1-2 record with a 1.60 ERA. In 28 innings pitched, Ruegger has struck out 30 batters (leading the team) and given up 24 hits. This will be his seventh start of the season.

Pitching for the Mallards is Brian Morrell. The freshman from Notre Dame sports a 3.56 ERA with a 1-0 record. He has made seven appearances with three starts. In his 17.2 innings pitched, Morrell has struck out 13 and allowed 19 hits.

The first pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m. at Witter Field. The Rafters will head to Madison for the June 3rd game, before heading home to Witter for an Independence Day matchup.
