Rafters Head to Wausau for First Time in 2015

Wausau, Wis- The Rafters bats came alive yesterday at Witter Field in a 14-4 victory over the Green Bay Bullfrogs. Jack Riley (UConn) improved to 3-0 on the year with the win. The starter went six solid innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on five hits while striking out three and walking four. Dmitry Shtyker (Russia) collected his first save in the Northwoods League, throwing three innings to close out the game. Zack Domingues (Long Beach State) and Jake Sandlin (Georgia College) led the way offensively, with three RBIs a piece. Ernie Clement (Virginia) had his second consecutive three-hit game and is now 6-for-9 in his first two games with Wisconsin Rapids. Today the Rafters begin a four game series with their rivals to the north, the Wisconsin Woodchucks.

Jake Johansmeier (Eastern Illinois) will be on the mound today for Wisconsin Rapids. The righty has four wins in 2015, and takes an ERA of 1.89 into the start today. Johansmeier, who starts the summer in the Rafters bullpen, will be making his third start today as he looks to build on his impressive first half.

The Rafters return home tomorrow to complete a suspended game and take on the Woodchucks in a seven inning game tomorrow evening at Witter Field. First pitch will be at 6:35 PM. Tickets are available for all remaining Rafters home games, call 715-424-5400 or go to www.raftersbaseball.com.
