Kenosha Kingfish News Release
Kenosha, Wis. - On Stand Up Kenosha Rally Towel Night, the Kingfish fittingly rallied back three times and a Nick Sergakis RBI walk-off double capped a 5-4 ten-inning Kingfish victory over the La Crosse Loggers Sunday night at Simmons Field.
The Loggers (21-18) got the scoring going right away in the top of the first, with leadoff man Mason McCoy singling to centerfield to start the game and he came around to score two batters later on an error by Kingfish catcher Alex Dunlap. The Loggers added one more in the inning for an early 2-0 lead.
The Kingfish (27-14) struck right back in the bottom of the first, with Zach Weigel scoring on a bloop RBI single by Dunlap. The Kingfish tied the game in their half of the second after Brody Westmoreland hit a rocket shot to deep left-centerfield for a solo home run.
Trailing 3-2 in the fifth, the Kingfish used a leadoff double by Dunlap and RBI single from Alex Borglin to tie the game once again. Behind in the eighth, the Kingfish manufactured a run to tie the game. Grayson Byrd reached on a fielder's choice after Zach Ratcliff was thrown out at home trying to score from third. Byrd then stole second and advanced to third on a throwing error by the La Crosse catcher. Weigel came through with a clutch, two out, RBI hit to make Kenosha even with La Crosse, 4-4.
In the tenth inning, Weigel drew a two out walk and that set the stage for the hero Sergakis. The Ohio State Buckeye launched the first pitch he saw into deep centerfield to bring home Weigel and give the Kingfish the win. Sergakis was appropriately mobbed by his teammates at second base after his walk-off hit.
Sergakis finished the night with three hits and his game winning RBI. Weigel also had three hits and an RBI and Dunlap recorded two hits with an RBI. McCoy went 2-4 with an RBI to lead Lacrosse.
Trevor Haas started on the hill for Kenosha and battled through a tough first inning to finish with a total of four innings pitched, with one run allowed and fanning three Loggers. Brendon Allen pitched three innings in relief of Haas and then gave way to Ryan Orr, who pitched three innings with three strikeouts to pick up the win. Kyle Nelson went seven innings on the mound for La Crosse, limiting Kenosha to three runs. Liam Carter took the loss for the Loggers.
