Rafters Conclude Road Trip with Chinooks

Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. - The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (18-22, 3-2 2nd half) finish their five-game road trip and two-game series against the Lakeshore Chinooks (21-19, 5-0 2nd half) tonight at Kapco Park. Yesterday, the Rafters fell just one run short in a ninth-inning rally. Trailing 4-0 entering the frame, Steven Rivas (Long Beach State) worked a leadoff walk. Jack-Thomas Wold (UNLV) delivered a base hit to make it runners at the corners with no one out. Mike Rojas (Auburn) brought the big hit with a two-run double. Down to their final out, Wisconsin Rapids went to a pinch hitter in Ty Duvall (Vanderbilt) who collected a base hit that scored Rojas. The Chinooks were able to get out of the ninth with a 4-3 win following a ground out to second.

Tonight, the Rafters aim for their second series split against the Chinooks and secure a winning road trip. Taking the bump for Wisconsin Rapids is Jake Cook (1-4, 8.20 ERA). Making his seventh start on the season, the junior from Birmingham Southern has struck out 20 and walked 10 in 26.1 innings pitched.

The Chinooks will go with Kevin Tibor (3-3, 1.53 ERA). The senior from Carthage is making his seventh start as well, but third start against the Rafters. The righty has allowed eight runs in 41 innings pitched. Against the cranberry and gold, Tibor has allowed one earned run in 14.1 total innings with 11 strikeouts.

First pitch from Kapco Park is set for 6:35 pm CT.
