
Rafael Alvarez Rejoins the Pelicans

Pensacola Pelicans News Release
The Pensacola Pelicans announced today they have acquired Rafael Alvarez from a trade with the New Jersey Jackals of the Can-Am League.
Last year for the Pelicans, Alvarez hit .353 with 21 doubles, three triples, and 12 homeruns with 52 runs batted in and was named the Central Baseball League Player of the Year.
Alvarez is in his 11th year in professional baseball, singing as a free agent by the Minnesota Twins in 1994. He has since played two years of "AA" and three years of "AAA" baseball. He has also played several years in the "AAA" Mexican League.
In his last three years he has hit over .300 twice, 18 or more doubles, two or more triples, 12 or more homeruns and at least 52 RBI's every year.
As part of the trade with New Jersey, center fielder Bernard Caston will now report to New Jersey.
