
Pelicans win fifth straight

Pensacola got on the board first in the 2nd inning when Juan Rocha led things off with a walk and was followed by a Nestor Smith single. Salas got his first hit on the night, scoring Rocha. Later in the inning, George Branch smacked a two run double down the left field line that scored Salas and Trino Aguilar who reached by a fielders choice earlier. Pensacola added one run in the 3rd inning when Rocha singled to left and moved into scoring position with a stolen base. Two batters later, he would score when Salas doubled to left center making the score 4-0. Edinburg got on the board in the 5th inning, scoring one run on a Kip Karkrider single that scored Eric Gonzalez who walked to lead off the inning.
In the bottom of the 6th, Pensacola made the score 6-1 when Jose Salas hit his sixth homerun of the season, a two run moon shot over the right field wall. Rocha scored after he singled before Salas. Each team scored one run in the 7th inning, making the score 7-2. Edinburg scored their last two runs in the 8th inning off Pelicans reliever Josh Courage who came into relieve Batson. Amado German hit a two RBI single up the middle that scored Matt Eichel and John Ballon. Pelicans starting pitchcer, Byron Batson improves to 8-5 on the season after his 5th consecutive win. Jeff Norris takes to the mound for Pensacola tomorrow and will face Julio Ruiz for Edinburg.
