Chicago Stars FC News Release
Chicago, Ill. - The Red Stars announced today that Rachel Quon will not be returning to the Chicago Red Stars for the 2016 season.
"It has been an amazing experience to play for my hometown these past three years. I am very thankful for everything the Chicago Red Stars organization has done for me during my first years as a professional soccer player. I will forever cherish the relationships I have made with the entire team and staff. I especially want to thank our loyal fans for all their support - and to Arnim [Whisler], Alyse [LaHue] and Rory [Dames] for giving me the opportunity to represent the Red Stars."
Quon, 24, was drafted by Chicago in the second round of the 2013 National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) College Draft with the ninth overall pick. Over the past three years in Chicago, Quon has appeared in 55 games and has been a vital piece of the recent rise of the Red Stars.
In 2013, Quon was called into her first camp with the Canadian Women's National Team for a friendly against the United States, but was unable to make an appearance due to FIFA not clearing her to play at this time. She would earn her first cap at the international level at the Cyprus Cup versus Finland on March 5, 2014.
Quon is currently exploring her options on where the next part of this journey will take her. The Chicago Red Stars wish her the best and look forward to seeing what the future has in store for Quon.
