Philadelphia Phillies: At the All-Star Break, SS Jimmy Rollins is leading the National League in runs scored with 71 and triples with 10, while ranking fourth in hits with 111. 1B Ryan Howard is ranked fourth in HR with 21 and fifth in RBI with 67. LHP Cole Hamels is tied for first among N.L. pitchers with 10 wins and ranks second with 124 strikeouts. Those honors were eye catching enough to get him selected to his first All-Star Game. He entered the game in the fourth inning and pitched a scoreless frame. He allowed a leadoff single to Alex Rodriguez and then retired Vladimir Guerrero and Magglio Ordonez on consecutive groundouts before Ken Griffey, Jr. gunned down Rodriguez attempting to score on an Ivan Rodriguez opposite field single.
Ottawa Lynx: During his recent call up IF Jesus Merchan went 5-for-13 with a 3B, HR and 2 RBI. 1B Gary Burnham is hitting .303 with 24 2B, 5 HR and 48 RBI. Burnham is hitting .408 ( 31-76) with RISP. C Jason Jaramillo is batting .275 with a pair of doubles, 3 3B, 5 HR and 37 RBI. Both Burnham and Jaramillo are tied for second on the team with their 5 HR's. LHP Fabio Castro is 3-0 with a 2.05 ERA. In 22 innings since his promotion, Castro has given up 5 ER and struck out 17. RHP Landon Jacobsen is 1-1 with a 1.42 ERA in three games, two starts. He has allowed only seven hits and two earned runs in 12.2 innings.
Clearwater Threshers: OF Jeremy Slayden is hitting .287 with 16 2B, 2 3B, 8 HR and 43 RBI. OF Greg Golson is batting .275 with 23 2B, 2 3B, 9 HR, 43 RBI and 24 SB. His 9 HR and 24 SB are both tops on the Threshers squad. Second-year C Lou Marson is hitting .280 with 16 2B and 35 RBI. On the mound, LHP Josh Outman is 9-3 with a 2.58 ERA. In 97.2 innings he has surrendered only 28 ER, while striking out 96. He has allowed only 10 runs and struck out 68 in his last 61.0 IP.
Lakewood Blue Claws: IF Adrian Cardenas is hitting .307 with 19 2B, 7 HR and 49 RBI. In his last 10, he is batting .486 (17-35) with 5 2B and 2 RBI. OF Quintin Berry is hitting .306 with 10 2B, 3 3B, 22 RBI and a team leading 34 stolen bases. He is hitting .405 in his last 10 games with 2 2B, HR and 5 RBI. RHP Kyle Drabek is 5-1 with a 4.33 ERA in 10 starts. He has recorded 46 strikeouts in 54.0 innings pitched. Edgar Garcia is 3-5 with a 4.64 ERA. In 75.5 innings he has walked only 20, while striking out 55.
Williamsport Crosscutters: OF D'Arby Myers is hitting .311 through the first 21 games with 4 2B and 8 RBI. He is hitting .404 (19-47) against right-handers and .381 (8-21) with RISP. RHP Drew Naylor is 4-0 with a 0.62 ERA in his first four starts. He has allowed only two runs on 16 hits in 29.0 innings, while striking out 32.
The Reading Phillies have six come-from-behind wins when they're trailing after seven innings. That's tied for the most in the league with the Binghamton Mets.
