
R-Phils Announce Jam-Packed Six-Game Homestand

(Reading, PA) - Wrestling Royalty, Dead Head Night, All-Decade Team Photos, exciting concerts, and more, headline a jam-packed second homestand of the season which begins on Friday, April 23 at 7:05 p.m. as the Reading Phillies, the Double-A affiliate of the 2009 National League Champion Philadelphia Phillies, host the Richmond Flying Squirrels for game one of their exhilarating three-game set at FirstEnergy Stadium.
On Friday, "Wrestling Royalty Comes to Reading" as "The King" Jerry Lawler makes a much-anticipated appearance and autograph session, thanks to All-Star Distributing/Pabst. As part of this exciting night, the first 500 fans 21 years-old and over who come out for the 7:05 p.m. game, will receive a Jerry Lawler Commemorative Cup, thanks to All-Star Distributing/Pabst. Wrestling Fans in attendance will also be treated to a special "Tribute to Professional Wrestling", courtesy of Rock Hits Y102.
Friday's game is also a $16 Family Night as the Pool with the all-you-can-eat buffet. For just $16 fans can treat themselves to a 2 1/2 hour all-you-can-eat buffet at the Reading Eagle Pool Picnic Area. The game also features a 4 for $48 Family Night, thanks to Capital BlueCross. Families can take part in this celebration of fun by getting four yellow box seats, four sodas, and four hot dogs for just $48, a $60 value. As a special added bonus to this already great deal, fans can play catch on the field, have a family photo with a player, a player autograph session, and much, much more. Capital BlueCross Family Night Packages are offered every Friday as well as Monday and Wednesday night games starting in June.
Phillies starter Joe Blanton is scheduled to make a rehab appearance for the Reading Phillies on Friday evening in the opener. Blanton, who is recovering from a left oblique strain, will make his second rehab start of the 2010 season. He'll be opposed by Richmond Flying Squirrels' righty Craig Clark, who is scheduled to take the mound. Clark, a product of Penn State University, is a native of nearby Phoenixville, PA, and is a former Spring-Ford High standout.
Also on Friday, there will be a 5:00 p.m. Happy Hour with $1.00 off All Star Distributing beers, plus a pre-game concert with musician Michael Kropp in the Classic Café from 5:00 - 6:30 p.m. Come out early to "America's Classic Ballpark" on Friday evening to hear some great music and to have a great time with one of the most entertaining nights of the entire season planned.
On Saturday, April 24, the R-Phils continue their exciting six-game homestand with game two of their three-game series against the Flying Squirrels, with first pitch set for 6:05 p.m. Fans will want to come out and celebrate Dead Head Night with a special musical performance from Good Lovin' Jamband, courtesy of 830 AM WEEU. Fans of the Grateful Dead will be treated to a fun night as only the Reading Phillies can host. Great music, which is something the R-Phils strive to bring to its fans, will be taken to the next level, thanks to a special performance by the Good Lovin' Jamband during a 4:00 pre-game concert and a special post-game concert.
As part of the Saturday night celebration, fans can also come out to FirstEnergy Stadium for the 7th Annual Beer Tasting at the Pool Festival #1 of the 2010 season, courtesy of All Star Distributing / Rock Hits Y102. As part of the celebration, the featured beers include, Stoudts, Dogfish, Harpoon, Mike's Lemonade, Southampton, and Modelo Especial. There will also be a Happy Hour, with $1.00 off select beers from 4:00 - 5:00 p.m.
Saturday also marks the first of 28 post-game fireworks show of the 2010 season, with a fantastic fireworks show, courtesy of Carpenter Technology. All 28 dates can be found online at readingphillies.com.
On Sunday, the first 2,500 kids who enter FirstEnergy Stadium will receive an R-Phils Greats Collectors Baseball #2, Cole Hamels. Hamels, who made his highly-anticipated Reading debut in early July 2005, posted a 2-0 mark with a 2.37 ERA, while striking out 19 batters in as many innings, during his time in Reading. Kids will also want to stick around after the game as there will be a post-game Run the Bases, courtesy of 69 News Berks Edition.
For all the hungry fans looking for a good bargain on Sunday, the R-Phils are once again offering Dollar Dogs, thanks to Berks Packing and Stroehmann's. Chow down on a delicious hot dog for just $1 dollar.
On Monday, April 26, the Harrisburg Senators make a stop at FirstEnergy Stadium, as the R-Phils open up a three-game series with the Double-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals. While the intrigue will be mostly from the scheduled pitching matchup -- Senators starter Stephen Strasburg, who makes his fourth start of the season, is scheduled to take the mound against R-Phils prospect Phillippe Aumont, the R-Phils have another exciting giveaway planned. The first 500 adults who come out to the 6:35 p.m. game will receive an R-Phils All-Decade Team Player Photo of 2009 R-Phils outfielder Michael Taylor. Taylor, who was the 2009 Eastern League Rookie of the Year, is the third photo to be given away so far this season. Fans will want to make it out for all 10 collectible photos this year.
A day later, on Tuesday, April 27, the R-Phils and Harrisburg Senators will battle in the middle game of their three-game series. The first 500 adults will receive the fourth R-Phils All-Decade Team Player Photo - former R-Phils shortstop Jason Donald. Tuesday also marks the second Baseball Bingo in 2010. Baseball Bingo, presented by Maidencreek Banquet Hall, is a fun way to enjoy the game from your seats, and fans will have the chance to win some great prizes.
Also, as with every Tuesday home game, there will be $3 off yellow box seats for R-Phils Senior Club Members and active & veteran military, courtesy of Genesis HealthCare Assisted Livings. Seniors 62 years or older will also want to join the new Genesis HealthCare R-Phils Senior Club, presented by Genesis HealthCare Assisted Livings. The entire program is free - giving seniors a brand new way to support the R-Phils this season.
On Wednesday, in the finale of the six-game homestand, the R-Phils will conclude their series with Harrisburg at 6:35 p.m. The first 500 adults will receive an R-Phils All-Decade Team Player Photo #5 of former 3B Mike Costanzo, courtesy of Allstate Insurance / Toni VanHorn.
