TONIGHT'S GAME: The first of a three game home and home series with two games here. The 14th of 16 meetings with the Tides and the seventh of eight at The Diamond. The Braves are 4-9 vs. the Tides, 2-4 at The Diamond. The Braves were 5-0 vs. the Tides at home last season. Game five of a five game homestand (the Braves are 3-1). The Braves are 21-24 vs. the IL South, 10-12 at home. The Braves are fourth in the South, two games behind third place Charlotte. Norfolk has won the IL South. They lead the division by 15 games. Richmond is 350-397 all-time vs. the Tides.

LAST NIGHT'S GAME: The Braves beat the Charlotte Knights 5-4 at The Diamond Friday. The Braves overcame a three run deficit to win their third straight game and fourth in their last five.The Knights Jorge Toca crushed a three run homer in the first to stake Charlotte to a 3-0 lead. The Braves bounced back with two runs in the first on a Scott Thorman RBI double and a Scott Pratt RBI single. The Knights tallied again in the second when Greg Norton chased a run home with a single to make it 4-2. The Braves moved to within a run in their half of the second on a Wes Timmons sacrifice fly. Timmons doubled a run home in the fourth to tie the game and produced the winning run with a sixth inning sacrifice fly.Adam Bernero picked up the win. Jason Childers notched a save. Felix Diaz took the loss. Timmons had two hits and three RBI. Pratt had three hits. Toca, Norton, and Wally Rosa had two hits for the Knights.

UP TO ATLANTA: RHP Anthony Lerew was called up to Atlanta following last night's game. The Braves roster is now 23 (12 pitchers, two catchers, six infielders, and three outfielders; seven players are on the DL). The Braves have made 135 roster moves this season. The Braves have used a total of 57 players this season. 12 Braves have earned big league call-ups this season and eight are currently with Atlanta (Lerew, Kyle Davies, Jim Brower, Brayan Pena, Andy Marte, Macay McBride, Kelly Johnson, and John Foster). The other four big league call-ups were Roman Colon, Frank Brooks, Matt Childers, and Seth Greisinger. 12 current R-Braves spent time in Double-A this season. 13 members of the current R-Braves active roster had no Triple-A experience prior to this season. Two Braves (Matt Childers and Frank Brooks) spent time in Atlanta this season. Another member of the 2004 R-Braves earned a big league call-up yesterday when Minnesota promoted OF Jason Tyner from Rochester.

NOTABLE NUMBERS: J.C. Boscan's six game hitting streak ended last night. Esix Snead leads the IL in stolen bases by two over Durham's B.J. Upton. The Braves are third in the league in team ERA. Richmond is last in the IL in batting average, runs scored, home runs, strikeouts by pitchers, and walks issued. Scott Thorman has hits in five straight games (7-21 .333). Josh Arteaga (6-17 .335) and Jonathan Schuerholz (4-14 .286) have hits in four straight games. Carlos Duran is 4-11 with hits in three straight games and two home runs since joining the Braves from Double-A. He had just one home run all season prior to coming to Richmond. Chad Paronto has worked five scoreless and hitless innings of relief over his last three outings. James Jurries is third in the league in slugging percentage.

A FULL INFIRMARY: Seven R-Braves are on the Disabled List: James Jurries, Joey Devine, Esix Snead, John Barnes, Buddy Hernandez, Carlos Mendez, and Bill McCarthy. Richmond has lost 409 man-games to the disabled list.
