TODAY'S GAME: This afternoon, the Buffalo Bisons face the Ottawa Lynx in the final game of a four-game series from Lynx Stadium (1:05 p.m.). Last night, the Herd defeated Ottawa, 8-2, with the help of newcomers Jeremy Sowers and Ben Francisco who had solid Triple-A debuts. Looking for the series win, Buffalo will turn to RHP Fausto Carmona this afternoon. Carmona made his first relief appearance of the season in his last outing against Rochester. The Bisons will face Lynx RHP Tony Fiore. In his last start, Fiore pitched well but earned a no-decision against Pawtucket (7.0IP, 5H, 0R, 0ER, 2BB, 6K).
80 WINS = PLAYOFFS: Last night's 8-2 win was the Bisons' 80th victory of the season. Dating back to 1991, the Bisons have won 80+ games during a campaign 11 out of 15 times. Each time they have done this, they have made the postseason, winning three championships. Including this season, the Bisons have a 926-646 (.589) in those 11 seasons.
WELCOME TO BUFFALO: After hitting .307 with seven homeruns and 46RBI in 83 games for Double-A Akron, outfielder Ben Francisco batted third and played centerfield in his Bisons debut. It didn't take long for Francisco to impress his new teammates as he went 2-4 with two runs scored and 2RBI in last night's game.
RBI-MACHINE: Andy Abad continues to have a solid season driving in runs for the Herd. His RBI-single last night gave him 84RBI this year. He is now tied with Columbus' Mike Vento for 4th in the International League.
SOLID RELIEF: The Bisons' bullpen has been solid during the past week and a half. In their last 10 games, they have only allowed seven earned runs in 42.1 innings of work (1.49 ERA). During this stretch, they have allowed 31 base hits, while striking out 40 opposing batters.
STREAKING: Both Mike Kinkade and Joe Inglett enter today's game with impressive hit streaks. Kinkade has hit in 11 straight games, averaging .419 (18-43) with three home runs and 10RBI. Joe Inglett has hit in nine straight, with a .500 (22-44) average, 10RBI and 13 runs scored.
RUNS APLENTY: Joe Inglett has scored a run in each of his last nine games. He has scored a total of 13 runs over the stretch.
