Corpus Christi Hooks News Release
Catcher Lorenzo Quintana has been tabbed Texas League Player of the Week for July 9-15, league president Tim Purpura announced today.
Last week, Quintana went 7-for-13 with 2 doubles, 4 home runs, and 10 RBIs. This four-game surge has raised his season batting average from .248 to .272.
The run began last Monday when Quintana belted a trio of homers and plated six runs in his first three at-bats vs. NW Arkansas.
Quintana became the 3rd player in club history to record a three-homer game, joining the ranks of J.D. Davis (2016) and Domingo Santana (2013). His five runs scored in the contest also set a new club record.
Quintana and shortstop Alex De Goti are the only Hooks to boast a pair of multi-homer performances this year.
Quintana is the 2nd Corpus Christi player to earn TL Player of the Week honors this season. Infielder Randy Cesar has taken home the award twice (May 14-20 & June 18-24).
Lefty Cionel Perez (April 16-22 & May 14-20), Jorge Alcala (June 4-10), Riley Ferrell (June 11-17), and southpaw Ryan Hartman (June 18-24) have all earned the circuit's top pitcher award.
