Montgomery Biscuits News Release
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Tampa Bay Rays have announced that INF Juniel Querecuto (pronounced who-KNEE-ell keh-reh-KOO-toe) has been transferred from A+ Charlotte to the Biscuits. The Biscuits had an open spot on the active roster so there is no corresponding move at this time.
Querecuto, 22, started the season with A+ Charlotte. In 39 games he was hitting .294 with a .350 OBP. The Rays promoted him to AAA Durham for four games (3-for-10) and then transferred him back to Charlotte for two games before moving him to the Biscuits active roster. Signed out of Venezuela when he was 16-years old for $500,000, Querecuto is now in his fifth season of professional baseball.
The Biscuits active roster is at the league max of 25.
