
Michael Reed Named Brewers' Minor League Player of the Month for May

BILOXI, MS - The Milwaukee Brewers have announced today that Biloxi Shuckers' OF Michael Reed has been named its Minor League Player of the Month for May. The Cedar Park, TX native batted .380 during the month, with seven doubles, three triples, three home runs, 17 RBIs and a .463 on-base percentage. Reed becomes the second Biloxi Shucker to earn a monthly honor as starting pitcher Brooks Hall was the Brewers Minor League Pitcher of the Month for April.
Reed helped to lead the Shuckers to a 16-12 record in May, maintaining its first place hold in the Southern League South Division standings.
Milwaukee's fifth round selection in 2011 out of Leander High School (TX), Reed currently ranks second in the Southern League in batting (.331), third in on-base percentage (.414) and third in slugging percentage (.530). In 47 games this season, Reed is batting .331 (50x151) with five home runs, 30 RBI, 13 stolen bases, has drawn 23 walks and collected 80 total bases. He has a hit in 11 of his last 14 games.
Reed was a 2014 Florida State League All-Star and selected as a MiLB Organizational All-Star in 2013. Entering 2015, Baseball America ranked the 22-year-old as the 14th-ranked prospect in the Milwaukee Brewers' organization.
Overall, the Shuckers currently lead the Southern League in wins (32), batting average (.271) and on-base percentage (.348). Biloxi is 32-20 on the season and 12-games above .500 for the first time in the Inaugural Season. Tonight, Biloxi will bid for their fourth straight series win at 7:05 p.m. at Regions Field against the Birmingham Barons.
The Shuckers will open MGM Park with the Inaugural Game on Saturday vs. the Mobile BayBears at 7:10 pm.
