Quebec Les Capitales News Release

A stellar outing by Quebec starter Keith Dunn and a big night at the plate for Olivier Lepine translated to a 5-2 victory for les Capitales over the New Jersey Jackals.

Pitching eight innings of two-hit baseball, striking out nine and allowing only two runs (both unearned), Dunn shined in what was an otherwise sloppy game that featured eight errors. The Jackals scored their two runs in the first two innings, both following Capitale errors.

Quebec kept pace, scoring on a Shane Hopper RBI single in the first and a Wally Quigg homer to the left-center power alley in the second. Dunn kept the Jackal hitters in check for the next six innings, while Lepine delivered the knockout punch in the sixth with a two-run blast over the left-field wall.

Lepine also had a double in the game, finishing 2-for-4 with two scored and two driven in. Hopper finished 3-for-4 with the RBI and a stolen base. Paul Abraham pitched a perfect ninth for his first save of the year.
