AUGUSTA, N.J. - Pete LaForest hit for the cycle, finishing 5-for-6 with four RBI and three runs scored, to ignite Quebec to a 14-5 win over the Sussex Skyhawks on Monday night at Skylands Park. LaForest blasted a three run home run as part of a seven run fifth, which helped the Capitales pull away. In his final at bat in the top of the ninth, LaForest launched a line drive to the wall in right center for a triple to complete the cycle.

Goef Tomlinson drove in three runs for Quebec, and Ivan Naccarata went 2-for-5 with a two-run triple to help the Capitales offensively.

Michel Simard gave up five runs on seven hits over six innings, walking two and striking out three, to earn the win. Brett Palanski threw three innings of relief to earn his first save of the year. Kyle Ruwe, who surrendered nine runs on 12 hits over 4 2/3 innings, took the loss for Sussex.

Second baseman Chris Brown smacked a two run home run in the bottom of the first for Sussex.

The Skyhawks and Capitales return to action Tuesday in the second of the three game series. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m., with a special fireworks show to follow the game.
