New Jersey Jackals News Release

Little Falls, NJ- Quebec starter Keith Dunn was touched up early for a couple of runs, but Dunn didn't allow a hit to the last 11 Jackals he faced, as Quebec beat New Jersey 5-2.

New Jersey got out of the gates first, and early. In the first, John Anderson reached on an error charged to Quebec second baseman Sam Bozanich. It was the first of five errors charged to them on the evening. Kevin Grijak then singled to right field with two outs, and on an errant throw back into the infield, Anderson came around to score to put the Jackals on top.

The lead did not last for long. Quebec came up in their half of the inning, and Shane Hopper tied the game up on an RBI single.

Both teams would again add runs in their halves of the second, to make the score 2-2. Wally Quigg added the run for Quebec on a solo homerun. It was his first of 2004.

In the fifth, the Le Capitales would go ahead, and go ahead for good. Olivier Lepine would lead off the inning with a double off New Jersey starter Josh Miller. The following batter Benoit Emond singled, driving in Lepine, to give Quebec the slim 3-2 lead.

Quebec would add two more in the sixth thanks to Lepine's two-run homerun off of Jackals' reliever Brad Whitworth. Lepine finished the game 2-3 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI.

Keith Dunn got the win for Quebec, while Josh Miller was charged with the loss for New Jersey.

There were a total of eight errors in the ballgame.

Hopper was 3-4 with 1 RBI for Quebec.
