
Quakes to Raise Funds for Turkey-Syria Earthquake Relief

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Earthquakes announced that they are aiding relief efforts following the 7.8-magnitude earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria on Monday.
The Quakes Foundation, the charitable arm of the club, has launched a fundraising campaign for these efforts. Donations are being accepted through the Foundation's fundraising platform and the Quakes will match up to $10,000. All funds donated will go directly to UNICEF and Doctors Without Borders, humanitarian organizations providing emergency assistance at the epicenter. To learn more and donate, click here.
The Quakes will also be making a relief post on Instagram and will be donating one dollar for every 'like' that the post receives within the next 24 hours.
About Turkey-Syria Earthquake Crisis:
More than 12,000 people have been killed and tens of thousands injured after a magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck Turkey and Syria on Monday. The earthquake breaks record as one of the strongest to hit the region in over a century. Coupled with the disaster, freezing weather conditions are further endangering survivors and complicating rescue efforts.

In Turkey, UNICEF is working with the government to distribute hygiene kits, blankets, and warm clothing to children and families in need. Doctors Without Borders is a humanitarian medical non-government organization. In Syria, Doctors Without Borders' teams have been at work since the earthquake first registered because of their existing presence in the region.
