September 5, 2010 - California League (CalL1)
Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release

Lancaster, CA -The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes let a couple of huge leads get away on Sunday, but eventually rallied for three in the tenth to win 13-10 in Lancaster, remaining one game up on High Desert with just one to play in the regular season.

With a High Desert loss on Monday or a Quakes' win, Rancho Cucamonga would secure the Second Half South Division Crown and home field advantage in the opening round of the Cal League Playoffs. High Desert's game in Lake Elsinore will be a 2:05pm start, so the drama may be decided prior to the Quakes' 5:05pm finale in Lancaster.

Darwin Perez's two-out RBI single off David Carpenter (1-1) chased home the game-winning run in the tenth, while Luis Jimenez followed with a two-run double to provide some extra insurance.

Eddie McKiernan allowed a one-out double to Jay Austin in the bottom of the tenth, but retired the final two hitters to record his 28th save of the year.

Quakes' reliever and eventual winner Nick Pugliese (4-4) allowed a game-tying two-run homer to Brian Pellegrini in the eighth, as the JetHawks completed a seven-run comeback, tying the game at 10-10.

The Quakes led 6-0 after just an inning and a half and had an 8-1 lead heading to the bottom of the third.

Leading 8-2 after three innings, Quakes' starter Garrett Richards was pulled after the third in order to prepare for the upcoming playoffs.

The bullpen didn't fare well at all, as Jose Perez allowed three in the fourth to allow the JetHawks to pull to within three at 8-5.

Mike Trout's two-run homer in the sixth moved the lead back to five, as his fourth of the year made it 10-5.

Quakes' reliever Matt Meyer was touched for three in the seventh though, as the JetHawks closed to within two at 10-8.

Monday's game represents the season-finale for both clubs. Both bullpens figure to get plenty of work, as neither team has named a starter for Monday's finale. First pitch from Lancaster will be a special Labor Day start time of 5:00pm.
