Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release

Rancho Cucamonga, CA-- The Inland Empire 66ers extended Rancho Cucamonga's losing streak to a season-worst four straight, as they rallied for an 11-6 win over the Quakes on Wednesday night at LoanMart Field.

David Fletcher's two-out grand slam in the fifth inning put the 66ers ahead to stay, as Rancho lost for the sixth time in their last seven games overall.

Rancho got back-to-back home runs to open the game, as Erick Mejia swatted his third, followed by Tim Locastro's fourth of the year, as the Quakes grabbed an early 2-0 lead against Inland Empire starter Jeremy Rhoades.

Quakes' starter Felipe Gonzalez was solid early, but ran into trouble in the middle innings. After Inland Empire got on the board in the third inning thanks to a double-steal, Fletcher struck for his first home run of the year and the first grand slam allowed by Quakes' pitching this year, making it 5-2.

Gonzalez (2-4) was removed after the fifth in favor of reliever Corey Copping, who struggled in his one and only inning. Copping gave up four runs, all with two outs, with pinch-hitter Zach Welz capping the inning with a two-run single, making it 9-2.

Hutton Moyer homered to open the seventh against Adam Bray, making it 10-2 with his seventh homer of the year. An unearned run against Bray made it 11-2 in the ninth, as Inland Empire set a new season-high for runs scored.

The Quakes mustered 12 hits on the night, but after the two home runs in the first, didn't score again until there were two outs in the ninth. Rhoades (3-8) fell one out shy of the complete game, as he gave up a two-out double to Julian Leon in the ninth, which chased home a pair of runs to make it 11-4. Jordan Piche came on to get the final out, but not before allowing a two-run single to Erick Mejia, whose fourth hit of the night completed the scoring at 11-6.

On Thursday night, Rancho will look to end their four-game skid, as they send Josh Sborz (7-3) to the hill in game two of the three-game series. Inland Empire will go with right-hander Jared Ruxer (0-1).

‚¬â€¹Thursday night will be another Thirsty Thursday, presented by Jimmy John's, as fans will enjoy $2 Pepsi products, $3 16-oz domestic drafts and $4 16-oz premium drafts, wine, champagne and margaritas. Game time is 7:05 and tickets are still available by calling (909) 481-5000 or online at rcquakes.com. Go Quakes!
