Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release

Lancaster, CA - The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes dropped the three-game series to the Lancaster JetHawks, due to a loss on Thursday night by a final score of 9-3.

An early offensive barrage for the JetHawks (57-52, 23-18) set the tempo of the series finale, as the Quakes (64-45, 23-18) could never recover.

In the bottom of the second, Lancaster sent ten men to the plate, scoring six runs on five hits. Ryan Vilade headlined the breakout frame with a two-out, two-run double, en route to a 3-4 night at the plate, with 3 RBI.

Jeter Downs and Marcus Chiu provided the lone offensive highlights of the evening, as Downs (17th) blasted a two-run shot in the third, while Chiu (12th) sent a solo shot in the fourth for his first long ball in nearly a month.

Will Gaddis (7-7), who surrendered a career-high nine earned runs in his last start, flipped a switch by producing a quality start. The right-hander lasted six innings, allowing three earned runs on six hits.

Michael Grove (0-5), coming off a pair of scoreless starts, was tagged with the loss, giving up five earned runs in just 1.2 innings.

With 29 games left in the second half, Rancho and Lancaster are now tied for first place in the second-half standings. Lake Elsinore, due to a win of their own on Thursday over San Jose, sits just one game back of both the Quakes and the JetHawks.

In game one of the set in Visalia, Rancho will start RHP Gerardo Carrillo (2-7), while the Rawhide are set to give the ball to RHP Shumpei Yoshikawa (4-6).

Circle the date Tuesday, August 6th, as the Quakes will play their first home game in over a week, taking on the same Lancaster JetHawks for a Healthy RC Recycle Tuesday. Make sure to purchase tickets online at rcquakes.com or by calling (909) 481-5000... Go Quakes!
