Puhalksi, Ewing, Clarke, And Reid Help Power Americans Past Nationals

READING, PA - The American Conference All-Stars, under the direction of Nailers coach Greg Puhalski, earned an 11-5 victory over the National Conference in the 2009 ECHL All-Star game Wednesday night in Reading, Pa.

All three Nailers players were also instrumental in the win. Trailing by a goal, Bryan Ewing forced the first tie of the contest with 11:42 left in the first period. Ewing's Wheeling teammate, defenseman Elgin Reid, contributed on the play with one of the two assists. Ewing went on to assist on two other American Conference goals later in the game for a three-point night and a plus/minus of +3.

Aaron Clarke also forced a tie, this one 3-3, when he scored less than five minutes into the second period.

The American Conference scored five goals apiece in the second and third periods to go on to the 11-5 victory.

The Nailers have a 7:05 p.m. road game tomorrow against Johnstown. They then travel to Reading for a 7:05 p.m. game on Saturday and conclude their weekend road trip with a 4:05 p.m. contest against Elmira.

The next Nailers home game is on Saturday, Jan. 31, against the Mississippi Seawolves. The first 2500 fans will receive a Reno Saccoccio bobble head courtesy of trinity Health System and WTOV 9.
