Long Beach Ice Dogs News Release

LONG BEACH, Calif. - The Long Beach Ice Dogs announced today that defenseman Gabriel Proulx has agreed to terms for the 2006-2007 season. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The 6' 2", 220-pound native of Macamic, PQ will be entering his fourth professional season, his first season in the ECHL. Proulx won a championship last season in the LNAH (League North American Hockey) with Sherbrook where he scored 33 points in 53 games and added 72 penalty minutes. Gabriel played for Coach Adduono in Port Huron (UHL) in 2004-2005 where he scored 11 goals, 24 assists, 35 points, and 98 PIMS in 66 games.

Proulx has also won a championship in his first year pro with Laredo in the CHL in 2003-04 where he scored 13 points in 49 games along with 92 penalty minutes. He also played 11 games (2-1-3) with the Flint Generals (UHL) in 2004-05. Before turning pro, Proulx played for the Trenton Sting in the OPJHL for two seasons, and the Val-d'Or Foreurs in the QMJHL.

"Proulx will add great size and depth on our blue line," said Head Coach and General Manager Rick Adduono. "Gabriel has potential to play in the American Hockey League and will get plenty of ice time on the power play and penalty kill. He played great for my team in Port Huron a few years back and has improved defensively the last two years. He is a proven winner (has won two championships the last three years) and a diamond in the rough."

"I am excited to play for Coach Adduono again this year," said Proulx. "I am a defenseman that likes to jump up in the play offensively when needed. I hope I can continue my winning ways here in Long Beach and be part of a really good hockey club."

Opening night is Friday, October 20th, versus the Idaho Steelheads at 7:30 PM. Season tickets for the 2006-07 season are on sale now, and can be secured by depositing just $100 per seat. Call (562) ICE-DOGS for visit www.icedogs.com for more information.
