Cyclones Sign Defenseman Riley Day

Cincinnati, OH - The Cincinnati Cyclones proudly announce the signing of Defenseman Riley Day. In addition, Day has signed a tryout agreement for the Cyclones AHL affiliate the Hamilton Bulldogs.

Day is expected to make his professional hockey debut on October 20, 2006 as the Cyclones take on the Pensacola Ice Pilots. The 6'2" 227 pound native of Brandon, Manitoba has NHL camp experience with the Ottawa Senators and the Carolina Hurricanes, but spent the last six seasons in the Western Hockey League. In 304 career WHL games, Day scored a total of 59 points (16g, 43a) while accruing 560 penalty minutes. Day was a key contributor for the Medicine Hat Tigers from 2000-2004 and the Brandon Wheat Kings from 2004-2006. Day was a member of the 2003-2004 WHL champion Medicine Hat Tigers and the 2004-2005 Eastern Conference Champion Brandon Wheat Kings.

Last season Day scored 25 points (6g, 19a) and a total of 191 penalty minutes over the 61 game season. Day was presented with the Art Marshall Memorial Trophy as the team's Top Graduating Player.

"We are excited to have a young player like Riley Day joining the Cyclones," said Clones Head Coach Chuck Weber. " Riley makes a great first pass and has improved every year as a Defenseman starting as a fifteen year old with Medicine Hat in the WHL. The coaches and scouts I have talked to rave about Riley's character and toughness. I know the hockey fans of Cincinnati will enjoy watching Riley compete."

The Cincinnati Cyclones are the ECHL affiliate of the NHL Montreal Canadiens and AHL Hamilton Bulldogs. The season kicks off at U.S. Bank Arena on Friday, October 20 versus the Pensacola Ice Pilots.
