Sheppard joins Titans

TRENTON, NJ (August 17, 2006) - The Trenton Titans announced on Thursday that they have agreed to terms with forward Scott Sheppard for the 2006-07 season. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Sheppard, 22, comes to the Titans after splitting his first two professional seasons between the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs of the Central Hockey League (CHL) and their American Hockey League affiliate, the Rochester Americans. Despite only appearing in 38 games for the Mudbugs last year, the Selkirk, Ontario-native averaged a point-and-a-half per game with 38 goals and 19 assists. Sheppard also contributed 15 points (7g, 8a) in 15 post-season matches for Bossier-Shreveport and 12 points (5g, 7a) for Rochester after being called-up for 21 games.

The 5'11, 190-pound forward began his professional career in 2004-05 and finished third on the Mudbugs in goals (27) and points (50), while also notching 23 assists over 58 contests. Prior to turning pro, Sheppard skated for four seasons (2001-2004) in the Ontario Hockey League totaling 239 points (91g, 148a) and 162 penalty minutes over 262 games with the Kitchener Rangers, Ottawa 67's and London Knights.

Sheppard becomes the tenth player to sign with the Titans for 2006-07, joining forwards Scott Bertoli, Alex Goupil, Les Haggett, Jim Henkel, Brian McConnell, Scott Selig and Peter Zingoni and defensemen Chris Cava and Peter Tormey.
