Jackson Generals News Release
JACKSON, Tenn. (August 26, 2013) - Jackson powered their way by the Chattanooga Lookouts (23-40), 7-3 Monday night thanks to four home runs and three of them coming from Steven Prosica. It was the first three-homer since Carlos Peguero had three home runs against Mobile on April 28, 2010. Jackson out-hit Chattanooga for the fourth straight night, 8-7. The win was the second straight and forces the rubber match of the five-game series tomorrow.
He was 0-for-9 in the first three games of the series, but nothing was stopping Steven Proscia at the plate on Monday night. Proscia (3-3, 3 HR, 3 R, 3 RBI) tied things at one in the third with a no doubt home run over the left field wall. The Generals first basemen smashed his second home run of the game in the fifth to knot things back up again, this time 3-3. The game would remain tight down the stretch.
It stayed tight thanks to tough pitching. Trevor Miller (W, 3-1, 4.01) continued his impressive streak with another good start. Miller pitched through the seventh due in large part to only walking one Lookouts batter. Miller paired the one walk with seven strikeouts allowing three earned runs on just six hits.
Chattanooga starter Zach Lee went seven innings himself. He surrendered only six hits, but unfortunately for the right-hander three of those hits were from Proscia. Lee looked like he would escape the seventh after striking out the first two hitters, but Jackson's slugger dug in. Proscia nailed another Lee pitch deep to left and in his third straight at-bat, smacked another home run to take the 4-3 lead.
The Lookouts extended their home run streak to 12 straight games with a Jeremy Moore long ball in the fifth off Miller. Jabari Blash (2-4, HR, R, 3 RBI) extended his season-high hitting streak to nine games with another multi-hit game. Jackson's bullpen was also solid in the second straight win as Nick Hill (2.19) got a double play to work a scoreless eighth and Dominic Leone (2.40) followed him with a perfect ninth.
The final home game of the 2013 season for the Generals will begin at 7:05 p.m Tuesday. (CT). Cam Hobson (0-1, 3.00) will get his first and only home start of the season. Hobson will go against Chattanooga's pitcher Rob Rasmussen (3-2, 2.48). The game can be heard on 96.5 ESPN Radio, TuneIn Radio App. and jacksongeneralsbaseball.com.
