Preview: Spirit Wrap up Regular Season with Sting Saturday

SAGINAW, MI - On Saturday, the Saginaw Spirit (24-35-5-3, 8th Western Conference) take on the Sarnia Sting (41-18-5-2, 2nd Western Conference) in the final game of the 2015-16 regular season for the Spirit. The Spirit will honor captain Connor Brown and defenseman Will Petschenig before the game, celebrating their OHL careers. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m.

The Spirit fell Friday night to the Windsor Spitfires by a final score of 6-1. Tampa Bay Lightning prospect Mitchell Stephens scored for the Spirit, extending his point streak to 10 straight games.

Sarnia has won five in a row and nine of their last ten games. Philadelphia Flyers first round pick Travis Konecny has seven points in his last four games and is four points away from a 100-point season. The Sting clinched the West Division Title on March 15 with a 7-1 win over the Guelph Storm, clinching the Division for the first time since the 2003-04 season.

The Spirit and Sting do battle for the sixth and final time this season. Saginaw holds a 1-2-1-1 record against the West Division Champs.
