Bloomington PrairieThunder News Release
BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Bloomington PrairieThunder coach Jarrod Skalde announced Monday that veteran right winger Jan Jas of the Flint Generals has been obtained in a trade for defenseman A.J. Bozoian and future considerations.
The 6-foot, 190-pound Jas is currently in his 11th professional season. He has played in 437 games, scoring 138 goals with 198 assists for 336 points. He also has 306 penalty minutes.
Jas, who hails from Presov, Slovakia, began this season with Kalamazoo of the International Hockey League. He played eight games with the Wings, netting one goal and one assist before going to Flint.
He played 18 games with Flint before the trade to Bloomington. The 30-year-old Jas scored four goals and had 14 assists with the Generals for 18 points. He also had a plus-1 rating and 24 minutes of penalties.
"We made the trade because it gave us the opportunity to upgrade our offense and veteran core of guys," said Skalde. "Jan has proven to be a leader and was having a solid year in Flint."
Skalde expects to have Jas in uniform (No. 7) when his team plays in Muskegon at 6 p.m. Tuesday night.
The right-handed shooting Jas began his pro career in 1998 with the Miami Matadors of the ECHL. He also played for Lake Charles and Odessa in the WPHL, along with Jacksonville in the ECHL, Montafon EHC in the Austrian League and Pontebba and Valpellice in Italy.
Jas played five seasons in the CHL with Macon, Indianapolis, San Angelo and Fort Worth. He spent two seasons in the now-defunct UHL with Roanoke and Flint. His most productive offensive season was in 2005-06 when he scored 53 points on 21 goals and 32 assists for the Roanoke.
Bozoian joined the PrairieThunder this season and played in 25 games, scoring two goals with seven assists for nine points. He had a plus-2 rating and 19 minutes in penalties.
