BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Zac Pearson continued his torrid scoring pace for the Bloomington PrairieThunder in a 4-1 victory over the Dayton Gems before 2,585 people Wednesday night in International Hockey League action at U.S. Cellular Coliseum.

Pearson scored two goals to give him seven in the last five consecutive games as the PrairieThunder improved its record to 23-21-2-5 (53 points), while Dayton dropped to 20-29-3-1 (44 points). Bloomington returns to action Friday with a 6:30 p.m. game at Flint.

Pearson's first goal - his fourth short-handed effort of the season and the third in the last five games - came at the 13:34 mark of the second period to knot the score at 1-1. Brett Holmberg had the assist.

Dayton had taken a 1-0 advantage with 11:58 remaining in the first period on Jonathan Ornelas' goal with assists to Corey Couturier and Mike Vaskivuo. The victory by the PrairieThunder marked only the second time on 20 occassions it has won when trailing after the first period.

Craig Macdonald scored what proved to be his team-leading eighth game-winning goal with 3:57 left in the second period on an assist by Jon Booras.

The PrairieThunder put the game away in the third period on goals by Pearson and Jason Lepine. Justin Sawyer had the assist on Pearson's goal midway through the period, while Macdonald and Pearson had assists on Lepine's power play effort with 2:02 left.

Rookie Kevin Armstrong earned the victory in net by saving 34 of 35 shots. The PrairieThunder had 32 shots on net and nullifed all eight of Dayton's power play attempts.
