MOLINE, Ill. (February 24, 2010) - The host Quad City Mallards, proud International Hockey League (IHL) affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers, fell to Fort Wayne Komets 4-1 Wednesday night as Sean O'Connor scored what would prove to be the game winning shorthanded goal and also picked up an assist.

First period Komet goals from Leo Thomas and O'Connor enabled Fort Wayne to overturn a 1-0 deficit after the Mallards' Chris Lipsett opened the scoring from point blank range four and a half minutes into the game. Thomas wristed home the tying goal from the right wing circle at 11:37 of the first; at 17:15 the Mallards were on the power play when O'Connor broke the deadlock with a backhander from the slot.

The Komets clinched the win with a pair of third period goals. Fort Wayne was up a man when Guy Dupuis stretched the lead to 3-1 at 5:53 of the third with a blast from the blue line. At the 8:32 mark Matt Syroczynski capped off the win by burying a Colin Chaulk centering feed.
