The Bloomington PrairieThunder (5-2-0) face a relatively quiet week ahead with only a single road game in Wichita, Kansas on Saturday night (November 13th) against one of the original CHL teams from when the league was re-born in 1992, the Wichita Thunder. The PrairieThunder begin the week tied with Wichita for second place in the CHL's Turner Conference. Each club has ten points in the CHL standings. Last weekend, the PThunder split a road weekend, shutting out the Fort Wayne Komets 4-0 on Friday night and losing to Quad City 3-1 on Saturday evening.

Following Saturday night's contest in Wichita, Bloomington will return home for a three game home stand beginning on Wednesday, November 17th against the Arizona Sundogs.The PrairieThunder will play seven games in a twelve day span beginning with the November 17th contest, including four games in five nights during the Thanksgiving holiday.

It's the first meeting of Thunder vs. Thunder in the history of the Central Hockey League. Wichita is one of the three remaining original CHL teams from when the league was re-formed in 1992 (along with Tulsa & Memphis). Wichita begins the week with a record of 5-4-0. Jesse Bennefield leads Wichita in scoring with 6 goals & 7 assists for 13 points. Former Edmonton Oiler Kevin McClelland is the Wichita head coach. He played alongside Wayne Gretzky as the Oilers won four Stanley Cups in 1984, 1985, 1987, and 1988 while McClelland was on the team.

PrairieThunder Notes

Forward Jason Dale continues to lead the team in scoring with eight points in seven games (3 goals & 5 assists).....Veteran John Snowden leads the PrairieThunder in goals scored with four and Dale leads in the assists category with five.....Goaltender Marco Emond has posted a 5-1 record with an outstanding 1.98 goals against average and a 93.3% save percentage.....On the injury front, forward Jon Booras who has been on injured reserve since the start of the season should be ready to return to action when the PrairieThunder return home on November 17th. Unfortunately, rookie defenseman Bill Pinel broke his right leg in Friday night's game in Fort Worth. Pinel, an Illinois native, is expected to be out of the line-up until late February or early March.

PrairieThunder in the Community

On Sunday, November 14th, from 12 noon to 1pm, PrairieThunder Mascot, Chip, will be the Celebrity Judge at the "Jingle Bell Run" at Heartland Community College.....Thursday, November 18th, from 5pm to 7pm, members of the PrairieThunder team will serve as "Celebrity Bartenders" at Station 220 in downtown Bloomington. Proceeds from the event will benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Illinois.

Bloomington PrairieThunder single game tickets are on sale at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum Box Office. Tickets are on sale at the Coliseum Box Office Monday through Friday from 11am to 5:30pm and on weekends when there are events in the Coliseum.
