Bucks Lose in Final Minute

LAREDO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League fell to the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs 4-3 Tuesday night at Laredo Energy Arena. The Bucks lost their second straight game and fall to 4-4-1 (nine points) on the season.

Steve Crampton jammed in a loose puck with just 34 seconds left in regulation to lift the Mudbugs to the win and into a first-place tie with Allen in the Berry Conference.

David Rutherford scored two goals to lead the Mudbugs (8-4, 16 points) while Brian Foster set aside 33 of 36 shots to improve to 4-1 in net.

The Bucks trailed 3-1 after two periods but battled back to tie the game at 3-3 with 10:39 left in the third period.

Neil Trimm picked up his sixth goal of the season and extended his point streak to nine games as he tied the game at 3-3 with 10:39 left in the game. Trimm leads the CHL with 16 points (6-1016).

Jeff Bes cut the Mudbugs lead to 3-2 when he scored his second goal of the season just three minutes into the third period. Bes had one goal and one assist to notch his fourth multi-point game of the season.

The Bucks (2-2-1 at home) scored first for the fourth straight game as Jeff Hazelwood took a feed from Darryl Smith at center ice and scored from the left circle just 3:38 into the first period. The goal was Hazelwood's first as a Buck and his second of the season while Smith picked up the assist in his return to the Bucks.

The Mudbugs (5-1 on the road) tied the game at 1-1 at the 8:16 mark of the first when David Rutherford picked up a loose puck at center ice and scored on an odd man rush from the top of the right circle. The strike was Rutherford's seventh of the season tying him for the team lead.

Laredo outshot Bossier 13-8 in the first period.

The Mudbugs would scored two goals in the first 5:17 of the second period to take a 3-1 lead after 40 minutes.

Rutherford scored his second of the game and his eighth of the season when he caught the Bucks on another odd man rush and hammered in a shot from the top of the slot.

Less than two minutes later Bossier would increase their lead to 3-1 when Joe Blaznek struck on the power-play from the top of the right circle. The tally was Blaznek's third of the campaign.

The Bucks outshot the Mudbugs 12-6 in the second period.

Torrie Jung suffered his first loss of the season as he stopped 22 of 26 shots he faced.

Mark O'Leary made his season debut after coming off of the 10-day IR and played in his 200th career game.

Addison DeBoer was scratched from the Bucks lineup Tuesday night.
